We are searching for a Geotechnical Driller to operate and maintain Velocity’s Simco 2800 drill rig on an F-600 chassis and Silverado 5500 support truck. Drilling is primarily mud rotary with SPT sampling.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Operating drill rig(s) and conducting geotechnical drilling operations
- Driving Velocity’s drill rig(s) and/or support vehicle(s) in a safe and professional manner (CDL NOT required).
- Understanding utility locate markings in the field and staking of geotechnical boring locations.
- Assist with clearing operations for geotechnical investigations.
- Performing maintenance and repair of drilling equipment, drill rig(s), and support vehicle(s) which will require basic mechanical knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines.
The ideal candidate would have the following qualifications:
- Clean driving record (required)
- Ability to lift and carry 50+ lbs multiple times a day
- Must be able to work outdoors in all climates
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong math and science skills
- Critical thinking / problem solving skills
